Lost Souls Available in the Kindle Store

Hello Dear Readers,

Did you know that I wrote a book? I totally did and I have a second in the works and a third planned. My first book, Lost Souls is available on Amazon for purchase either in ebook format or paperback:

Here is the back cover sting:

The first time Edgar Stark saw the girl with the lily in her hair was when he was sinking into the cold depths of Muir Lake, fighting for his life. Now he can't stop seeing her but the real problem is that no one else can. She plagues his dreams and his waking life, beckoning him back to the place it all began.

When a girl from his high school, who bears a striking resemblance to the mysterious girl, goes missing, Eddie soon finds himself wrapped up in a decades-long mystery that threatens to ruin his life. With the help of Tawny Evans, his only friend left and the only one who believes him, they must set out to uncover the truth before it's too late.

If this sounds like your jam, feel free to give it a look-see. I'm really excited to really get this out there and available outside of the Radish app I first published it on. This is the first book in a planned three-part series, the second of which I'm currently starting the process of fully outlining so I can start writing it straight away. I'm excited to explore the world of Eddie and Tawny again.

Just to give you more of a taste, here is the prologue of the series:

Chapter 0
The Chilling Waters

For Edgar Stark, everything began the night he died. In truth, the real trouble started before he was even born; with a girl named Lisbet. She vanished without a trace over 20 years ago, never seen again. Those who didn’t know her assumed she ran away and didn’t want to be found, so as the days turned to weeks and the weeks to months, and the months to years, all but the closest to Lisbet Nelson forgot.

Edgar couldn’t have known any of that as he stood at the very edge of the cliffs that jutted out over Muir Lake, nor did he know he was standing where Lisbet had once stood all those years ago. The only thing he knew at that moment was how inviting the calm waters below looked. He took another swig from his drink and stumbled the slightest bit before catching himself.

In the distance, he could hear his friends laughing and dancing on the beach just to the side and down a steep incline from where he stood. Resentment brewed inside him at their happiness but that soon boiled into a knot of guilt. They had every reason to be happy and to celebrate. They’d won their championship game handily, 5-1.

Not good enough. His father’s voice rang in his head, full of contempt.

Eddie unconsciously touched his cheek and could still feel the bite of his father’s anger, reminding him of the goal he’d let through with only seconds to spare. He downed the rest of his drink hoping to drown out the mixture of feelings inside of him. He tossed the can aside and took an unsteady step closer to the edge. Silt and loose rock crumbled beneath his foot and pattered quietly into the water below.

Muir Lake rippled calmly beneath him and the gentle sounds called to him, offering him peace and comfort that the promise of alcohol had denied him. He spread his arms wide and closed his eyes, letting the cool breeze wash over him. The uproarious laughter from the beach pulled him from his trance and he took a step away from the ledge, swaying unsteadily.

He let out a nervous laugh at how close he’d come when a noise made him jump. He turned toward the darkened forest that surrounded him; his eyes doubling everything making it seem larger than it was; vaster, more imposing. It was hard to make anything out in the blurred and liquefied blackness. He thought he could see something moving towards him.

He was weightless for what felt like an eternity, staring wide-eyed at the ledge that was moving higher above him. Before he could register what was happening, his back crashed through the hard surface of the once still waters, knocking the wind out of his lungs, and he sank limply downwards. The bitter cold sapped his strength leaving him powerless to fight his way back to the surface.

His wide-open eyes could see the small bubbles of the last bits of air escaping his lips, floating upwards. An eerie calm washed over him then, resigning to his fate. There was no thought, no guilt, and no fear; there was only darkness and a haunting voice calling to him from within the abyss.

Help.…me…

A greyed face emerged from the murky shadows, dark hair swirling around it, obscuring its features. In the mass of dark hair, a pinned white lily shone brightly in contrast. The tendrils finally gave way, revealing the half-decomposed face of a teenaged girl. Her nose and most of her mouth rotted away, exposing a disturbed skeletal smile and only empty sockets remained where her eyes should have been. The corpse’s hands reached out to him, looking to grab hold. He wanted to scream but he could only float helplessly as the world dulled around him. The last thing he could see was the impossibly white petals of the lily in her hair before everything went black.
